Job Purpose

The Specialist Solution Engineer – CSM aids the Specialist Solution Engineering Lead as well as the Global Head: CSM on calls and strategic opportunities. This role requires excellent time management and communication skills.

Key Result Areas: (Major Accountabilities)

Support existing and future sales engagements

  • Provide Subject Matter Expert-level support during sales engagements
  • Design, price, and spec new solution deployments
  • Provide feedback and context of existing solutions to Product Development streams

Centralise Sales Enablement     

  • Develop and maintain key documentation for use in sales engagements
  • Work with the Enablement team to ensure content is correctly maintained

Assist in creating Specialist Solution Engineer: Cell Site Management    

  • Ensure capacity to support new and existing company and partner, sales engagements
  • Assist the Specialist Solution Engineering Lead to create training material for future Specialist Solution

Engineers in the space of Cell Site Management, covering:

  • Cell Site (focussed on passive equipment)
  • CSM product/solution
  • Telecommunications industry
  • Solution development/design
  • Basic business case development

Solution pricing

  • Assist the Specialist Solution Engineering Lead to develop a core team of dedicated, Specialist Solution Engineers, who are experts in the areas described above

Improve pricing maturity            

  • Work with the Specialist Solution Engineering Lead and internal teams to develop catalogued pricing.
  • These teams include: Product development, Commercial, Technical Engineering, Product Engineering, Delivery, and Support
  • Assist the Specialist Solution Engineering Lead in developing standard pricing tools for the on-selling of the CSM solution
  • Assist the Specialist Solution Engineering Lead to create training material to enable salespeople and partners to use pricing tools for the purpose of sizing opportunities

Specialist Solution Engineer will be required to:

  • Translate verbal commercial and solution offerings into Excel that clearly define any assumptions that have been made.
  • Confidently communicate technology that addresses specific business pain points.
  • Build client-ready PowerPoint slides that are aesthetically pleasing, technically correct,  and speak to the points discussed with the relevant stakeholder.
  • Creates and leads the process of the conceptual design of solutions that solve customer business problems by engaging the necessary resources from within the business.
  • Creates solution descriptions, architecture diagrams, and associated pricing schedules.
  • Works with internal stakeholders, including Technical Architecture, Solution Delivery, Procurement, Project Management, Sales, and Business Development.
  • Communicates process and solution updates to customers and business partners.
  • Keeps stakeholders apprised of any issues related to the solution design.
  • Provides clear and concise written information for use in proposals and presentations.
  • Analyses the efficiency and suitability of various solutions, given the customer’s use case and application.
  • This may include building business cases to prove value to the customer and enable the opportunity to on sell solutions.
  • Performs a research function into new and suitable technology for use in current and future business solutions.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience;

Knowledge:

  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of significant Internet-of-Things concepts related to CSM and other use cases developed within technology.
  • The ability to translate business problems into technology solutions using internal technology combined with 3rd party technology.
  • Excellent knowledge of industrial protocols, systems, and Internet Protocol communication.
  • Knowledge about Commercial offerings such as Once-Off costs and recurring monthly costs relating to CSM.
  • Knowledge of competitors within the industry.

Skills:

  • Excellent Microsoft Office and systems skills. Expert understanding of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and related Office365 tools.
  • Ability to build PowerPoint Presentations in quick succession with tight deadlines that relate to different use cases.
  • Basic project management skills, especially the capacity to recognise where experts from within the business should be utilised within the project effectively and efficiently.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
  • Management of expectations for clients as to possibilities and limitations of the current state of technology.

Professional Experience:

  • Extensive business presentation and pain point discovery skills.
  • Experience in pricing for complex hardware, software, services, and support solutions.
  • Experience and knowledge in Electrical, Mechatronic, Electronic, Mechanical, Security,
  • Systems Engineering are strongly preferred.

Qualification and experience:

  • Min 5 years experience
  • Extensive business presentation and pain point discovery skills.
  • Experience in pricing for complex hardware, software, services, and support solutions.
  • Experience and knowledge in Electrical, Mechatronic, Electronic, Mechanical, Security, or Systems Engineering are strongly preferred.
  • Min Diploma – relevant qualification
