Our client, a well-known public services organization with an office in Brooklyn, Pretoria, is currently seeking to appoint an Industrial Engineer who will focus on fore-sighting and innovation. This role will sit in their Business Design and Engineering Department, and reports in to the Senior Manager: Design Enablement.
If you are passionate about simplifying complex business problems and have the requisite experience in conceptualising innovative business process solutions and eliciting detailed business requirements, with a strong capacity for translating these into conceptual solutions, ideally within the financial services industry, then we would like to hear from you.
Job Purpose
To enable the implementation of new leading-edge concepts in support of the business’ innovativeness strategy. This is achieved through research and bench-marking, participating in open collaboration networks, crafting and socialisation of concepts, identifying and conceptualising organisational innovation focus areas, as well as incubation of these concepts through prototyping/piloting. These concepts are informed by predicting, creating and leading the business by applying the fore-sighting skills of anticipation, innovation and strategy, and translating these foresights and innovations into conceptual solutions within the business environment.
Minimum Requirements:
Relevant Bachelor’s Degree / Advanced Diploma (NQF 7): Industrial Engineering, preferably augmented by a qualification or further studies in Future Studies, Fore-sighting or Innovation Research, and 8-10 years’ experience in a similar environment, of which 3-4 years must be at operational specialist level
OR
Senior Certificate (NQF 4) preferably augmented by a qualification or further studies in Future Studies, Fore-sighting or Innovation Research, and 15 years’ related experience, of which 3-4 years must be at operational specialist level
Abilities
•Identify patterns or connections between situations that are not obviously related and to identify key or underlying issues
•Anticipate scenarios – i.e.: formulate new concepts based on information gathered
•Determine trends from raw data to assist decision-making in various aspects of work
•Take all relevant details into account to ensure that a task is completed to required standards

•Knowledge of innovation, industry and technology trends
•Understand a situation or problem by breaking it into smaller pieces/tracing the implications of situation in a step-by-step way
•Knowledge of own organisation’s policies, procedures, services, products and business operating models
•Know-how to interpret the functional policies and procedures, including monitoring their consistent application internally
•Know-how to define product features and develop implementation roadmaps in the business’ architecture and solutions landscape. Additionally, ensure that the designs support the achievement of sustainable business results, including the provision of design and implementation support and conducting stakeholder engagement.
